Pronounced X by O, this is the latest streetwear/athleisure project by Adidas. Adidas is constantly updating and refreshing its lineup. I continue to give the Tim Coppens UAS project grief because of what I see in other brands. This is another reason why. In the time since the drop of UAS at NYFW, Adidas has announced several street inspired athletic apparel lines and so has Nike (all can be searched on this site).

Matt Powell shared a Barrons article this morning talking about Nike’s demise due to Adidas and Under Armour. 1. Nike isn’t demising 2. Adidas has a 5% share of the US market, but they are working very hard to maintain and add to it and I really like it. 3. Under Armour and UAS really irritate me.

This is about XBYO. The apparel isn’t dropping, but there is a dedicated page on the Adidas site with this short video explaining its roots.

For its inaugural collection, XBYO looks back to adidas Originals’ first ever apparel range, distinguished by a signature cross motif taken from the heel-detail of the 1959 adidas Italia. Cuts for the collection were then devised by renowned pattern maker Satomi Nakamura, bringing a sharpened and refined cut to classic sportswear designs.

I like the connection to the past. This keeps the brand on trend with retro being a big part of sales for Adidas and I like that they are constantly innovating.
