K-Swiss x Breaking Bad: Vince Gilligan | This Greenhouse Collab Feels More Authentic Than the GaryVee Collab

Greenhouse has been staying fairly consistent with notifications arriving through the app. The most recent launch of the adidas Speedfactory x Latino Heritage  hasn’t sold out as quickly as the clothing and accessories drop from the designers like PSNY and ALIFE, but this isn’t as surprising. adidas’ BOOST based footwear is not selling through very quickly in store or online. At this moment inside of FootLocker UltraBOOST is on sale for 149.99. The adidas TRESC is on sale from 59.99 – 79.99. The PureBOOST was marked down as low as 49.99. At FinishLine UltraBOOST 2019 is marked down from 99.99 to 149.99. Greenhouse is preparing for a much more limited collaboration in the footwear space. The recent release of El Camino: A Breaking Bad Story on Netflix is reigniting an interest in one of the greatest television shows in history. There are aspects of that show which are immediately recognizable. The RV that Jesse and Walt cooked their blue tinted meth is one of those aspects.

K-Swiss was recently purchased by Xtep a Chinese company. K-Swiss had shown a 12% year on year growth. While many may have tied the success of the brand to their collabs with Gary Vaynerchuk, the reality is that the limited release numbers of the shoes made in conjunction with the popular entrepreneur, didn’t really drive engagement with the brand beyond the shoes released by and for Gary Vee. Today those models are still available on K-Swiss’ website. I even wrote a post on how the collaboration was suspect because as a person who followed Gary Vee I remember distinctly that his favorite kicks were Nikes:

Is It Okay For Gary Vee to Rock the Nike Air Max 1 Parra When He Has His Own K-Swiss?

This collaboration with Breaking Bad feels much more authentic. The K-Swiss x Breaking Bad Classic 2000 “Recreational Vehicle” shoe drop ties in to a Breaking Bad Experience and will launch on October 17th at 10am. At only 80 dollars purchasing the shoes will give the buyers two complimentary tickets to the Breaking Bad Experience.
