World champion surfer Kelly Slater saw a problem and set out to solve it via a more sustainable, eco-friendly and ethical apparel company. The digitally native brand Outerknown was born. Outerknown produces water repellent jackets woven from recycled fishing nets and pants, shirts and denim from smarter sourcing. While it’s difficult to show clothing benefits and quality in a video, this denim shirt features tags that dissolve in water. As small as this seems, it’s another step in solving issues in the apparel industry.
