The unfortunate reality is Chinese food gets a bad rap. Asian cuisine is often tossed into one gigantic bag and there isn’t any clarity on just what Asian cuisine is. Curry inspired dishes from Indian cultures… that’s Asian. Sushi is a Japanese staple. Pad Thai is always conflated with Lo-Mein, the confusion is never-ending. So, when a chef decides to take advantage of the unwillingness to learn about the varying degrees of flavors from Asian countries, you get an amazing restaurant idea that never fails.

Urban Fusion is our go to when we are trying to decide where to eat. Everyone in the family has staple plates, but the flavors in the sushi options challenges you to try every roll. I fear change so I very rarely choose anything except my favorite Spicy Pineapple Fried Rice at heat level 2 (on a scale of 3) and as an appetizer I choose the Ginger Jalapeno Dynamite Wings, which arrives on a bed of lightly grilled onions and jalapenos. The wings are enough for a party of four and the rice is shareable, but I take the onions and peppers from the wings and toss them in with the rice creating an entirely new flavor.

Pictured below on this trip are a few of the rolls and my spicy pineapple fried rice. Not pictured are the wings because I ran through them before snapping a pic. On a different visit we tried another appetizer, the Vegetable Tempura. The plate arrives stacked like a mini-castle tower. Each vegetable is fried in a light oil keeping them crispy and flaky. The tower includes onion rings, zuchinni, and mushroom. I used the sauce from my pineapple rice and everyone else used eel sauce or soy. The price is fantastic and the service is always fast. Considering the price you pay for fast food, it doesn’t make sense to choose a burger if you’re in the neighborhood in Olive Branch, Mississippi or Germantown, Tennessee. Both locations have the same service and quality.
