Today marks another important milestone in the adidas x Allbirds’ collaboration – the launch of the ADIZERO X ALLBIRDS 2.94 KG CO2E. An evolution of the FUTURECRAFT.FOOTPRINT, which launched last year. With more pairs available than ever before, the launch represents a personal best for both brands, highlighting how quickly innovation can advance when two market leaders work together. Doing more with less, adidas and Allbirds combined their expertise to maximize performance benefits with minimal materials and smart solutions, to give every runner a shoe for performance and planet.

The collaboration remains one of the most surprising in all of sneakers. The only brand collaborations between sneaker companies only happens when one of the companies owns the other. Allbirds and adidas are in competition, but you can’t tell. It’s an interesting and smart partnership delivering one of the most thoughtful sneakers on the market. The continuation of this partnership at a time when Allbirds’ share price continues to decline from its initial offering, feels like adidas preparing to possibly take on another company after selling Reebok to Authentic Brands Group. Allbirds’ share price was 26.03 in November when the launch happened. The price is now at 5.49 after having hit 5.37 at its lowest. Allbirds looks a lot like a short right now and if this adidas announcement is the first in a rollout of information supporting Allbirds, could adidas become like the host of institutional investors who control 26% of the shares? It feels like something much different is taking place between these two companies.
