The arrival of inventory is slow due to the supply chain disruptions and manufacturing shut downs in countries where footwear production takes place. This will shape retail throughout the holiday season. While many of the coveted sneakers have already arrived and will be available, those shoes tend to be in the high to premium price categories. During the upcoming holiday season, a lot of people will have an opportunity to discover brands that are equally as stylish, but much more cost effective. There are many options for the 100 and Under category. I’m going to try to cover a variety of styles from basketball, to lifestyle running and training options eventually. This list will feature shoes that fall into the running lifestyle shoe segment. In the past, a brand like Nike wouldn’t have made a list like this. In the last year, Nike has made a concentrated effort to recapture their share of the market in the low to mid tier price point. The growth of Crocs and Vans, with some incredible designs from Puma showed Nike they left the door open. The footwear available under 100 bucks isn’t as wack as people may think. Here are some of the best options in the running lifestyle category.
To crack this list, the sneaker will have to be stylish, with great materials, and of course be 100 dollars and under (before tax, lol). The sneaker will have to stand out, not because of the colors, but because they will make you take a second look.
1. Saucony Shadow 6000 Destination Unknown
Link: https://www.saucony.com/en/shadow-6000-destination-unknown/50729U.html?dwvar_50729U_color=S70587-2
SRP: 100
Description: A classic running shoe from Saucony with great materials and style.
2. Reebok Classic Leather Legacy Grow
Link: https://www.reebok.com/us/classic-leather-legacy-grow-shoes/S24180.html
SRP: 80.00
Description: Nike’s Move to Zero features up to 20% recycled materials. Reebok’s Grow is made with at least 50% plant based materials. That should be reason enough. If it isn’t, I love that midsole/outsole combo.
3. Nike Crater Remixa
Link: https://www.nike.com/t/crater-remixa-mens-shoes-0M8njf/DC6916-100
SRP: 70.00
Description: Nike’s Move to Zero features up to 20% recycled materials. Reebok does more, but this shoe, design wise… is so intriguing.
4. CLAE RUNYON CALIFORNIA
Microship Brown Vegan Suede
Link: https://www.clae.com/collections/runyon/products/runyon-microship-brown-vegan-suede
SRP: 100.00
Description: CLAE’s entry into the classic running look features 100% Vegan materials and recycled P.E.T. Clean, elegant and definitely a solid option to age up your wardrobe.
5. Puma Mirage Sport
Link: https://us.puma.com/us/en/pd/mirage-sport-mens-sneakers/380696.html?dwvar_380696_color=01
SRP: 100.00
Description: Another model that isn’t exactly an old school runner, but is a running lifestyle option that is really eye catching. In a different color, it could be too much. This more muted option is still subtle, but bold.
6. New Balance 997H
SRP: 99.99
Description: The 997H is a lightweight alternative to the more expensive Made In versions of New Balance’s classic runners. It’s on this list and should be higher because between the Saucony and this model, you can pull together more traditional looks.
7. ASICS Gel-Lyte
Link: https://www.asics.com/us/en-us/gel–lyte/p/ANA_1191A326-020.html?
SRP: 90.00
Description: It’s getting cold. I don’t know if that fur is waterproof, probably not, but it’s gonna be warm and you can rock these throughout the Fall and Winter… when it isn’t raining. The midsole on these are dope asf.
8. Columbia Pivotâ„¢ Mid Waterproof
Link: https://www.columbia.com/p/mens-pivot-mid-waterproof-shoe-1888541.html?dwvar_1888541_color=125&pos=2
SRP: 90.00
Description: Waterproof, that’s the description. 90 dollars and waterproof. I live in Memphis where you can be happy and walking on one side of the street and when you walk across the street twenty feet, it could flood. Might as well be prepared and look good being prepared. (These are on sale right now for 45 bucks!)
9. adidas ZX 700 HD
Link: https://www.adidas.com/us/zx-700-hd-shoes/H01851.html
SRP: 90.00
Description: adidas’ ZX series shoes have been infused with Boost pushing the price over 100 dollars on most of the styles. The shoes used to be a staple for the 100 and under category. Now the only pair ringing up at and under the century mark? The ZX 700. It’s not quite as sleek as the classic running sneakers of the past, but the color blocking is there and the use of an array of materials creates depth and outside of the Saucony, this is the most colorful entry listed.
10. Clarks Gaskill Vibe Dark Grey Combi
Link: https://www.clarksusa.com/c/Gaskill-Vibe/p/26163858
SRP: 100.00
Description: No one really wants to look like a Math Teacher, but even the less adventurous deserve a subtle running style shoe to wear comfortably when standing all day. I’m not saying this is a replacement for shoe inserts and fit, but Clarks makes fantastic shoes and someone reading this list needs a pair for the old head in their lives. (On sale with 25% off right now)
