Last year Saucony dominated my Top 40 list with shoes like the Bricks, Ramen, and Chocolate Pack. This shoe cracked my top 20, but it was more of the story behind the project and a sentimental choice as I really wanted Saucony to deliver on another year of amazing lifestyle options. Instead Saucony released a lot of clean colorways, but nothing that really shined. I blame the reliance of their Originals department on influencers who didn’t inspire commitment to the brand on the collabs last year. Saucony never really advertised the beautiful designs from last year. The handed the storytelling over to their IG accounts and to the influencers in their Originators series. They didn’t do that with the Oktoberfest this year, but they also didn’t make any effort on their site to build a rapport. The shoe is still stunning with it’s ‘hops’ inspired logo and colorblocking reflecting the annual celebration featuring a fair atmosphere and of course beer.
