While collabs typically dominate these type of lists, there is one shoe that I know for a fact had the best resale value of every shoe dropped this year as a General Release. It was even better than the Air Jordan 1 in many instances. This shoe also shows that resale dictates brand heat. The Light Bone and Hot Punch Air Max 270 was the epitome of a shoe that changed the game for Nike. According to websites the Air Max 270 was one of the best selling shoes of the year. It didn’t take outside data for me to figure this out. The average resale on this colorway was right at 200/pair for a 150.00 dollar shoe (Midnight Navy, Dusty Cactus and Ocean Bliss also hit these resale numbers). A number of stores in Memphis didn’t perform as well with the Air Max 270, but that’s because the stores were in direct competition with Nike’s doors. The Light Bone was at City Gear and was on sale and I grabbed almost every pair I came across at 99.99. Memphis is the only place that this probably happened as the Light Bone currently garners about 180 in resale, but that’s almost a year after its release! The colorway when it released was extremely bold. The Hot Punch 270 Cushion stood out and replaced Nike’s Volt as one of the more popular colors in its arsenal. Combined I sold over 300 pair of Air Max 270s in 2018. For that reason alone the shoe earned a top 5 ranking.
